I have been on a high the last few days since my trip back home. I mean, the amount of love I received was UNREAL! From family to friends to people I didnt even know, the energy amazing. To know I made my people proud made feel really good and was exactly what I needed. I even had a chance to preview new music.. And the response was dope. Like.. Really dope! It just reminded me no matter where I go, there aint NO place like my city man! #DC #DMV #TEAMOD

So.. I use to have this like/love relationship with R&B. I say that only because there was a time when I was trying to prove there was more to what I offer than just that. No artist wants to seem one dimensional. And, when youre constantly being told that being too musical is not whats “hot”, it can eventually make you feel even more stifled creatively. But today, I realized Im onto something special. We making real music over here! Lol! So Ive decided to just… do what I feel. Tell stories and write music that people can relate to, and music that makes them feel good. Stuff that has substance! I want my legacy to be full of great music that outlasts me. When I look at the kinda artists Im inspired by–Luther, Sam, Michael, Quincy Jones–their legacies say something about who they were as artists and musicians, and as individuals. I want that..

So, want my advice? Do what feels good to you. Doesnt matter if its on an artistic level or just in your everyday life. Dont ever let anyone tell you that their limits and boxes define who you are. Theres only one you, nobody else can come close, so discover who that is and embrace it. Promise that shit WILL make u happy. Really cant wait to share this stuff with yall!

Yooooo, its been a craazzyyy week! Lol! I cant begin to tell yall how much this experience has changed my life. I walked into this not expecting a lot at all because I didnt want to get my hopes up. At every turning point in this process, from the Blind audition til now, my only goal was to do the very best I could and hope that people would see me as an artist and as a person. Im proud of myself for making it as far as I did! The Voice not only gave me a platform and exposure to millions of people who had never heard of me, but it also validated something for me. This is what Im purposed to do. For a while, I was struggling with whether or not this was meant for me, questioning whether I was good enough or special enough to connect with people through my gift. This opportunity really gave me the confidence I needed to keep going, keep striving and keep pushing for my dream. And that is exactly what the hell I plan to do! Lol!

So… what happens from here is about to be very exciting! I hope yall r ready to come on this ride with me man. I want to share every part of this journey wit yall because the love yall send my way really makes it all worth it. New music, exciting moments and a whole lot more good shit is coming, and I can’t wait to share wit all yall! Stay tuned…

Seriously, the amount of love Im feeling and receiving right now is UNREAL! #TEAMOD, y’all continue to hold me down and you have no idea how much that means to me. Some of y’all been riding wit me since YouTube, and im excited for you guys to see my growth on this journey man. To be completely honest, part of me felt like I let you guys down at first–my blind audition tho?! It wasn’t my best LOL! But the great thing about that moment was it pushed me to challenge myself and CONNECT with what I’m doing on stage. Watching my battle was not only a revelation for Adam (his words, not mine), but for me too! It showed me I am capable of more. I have only scratched the surface with showing the world what I can do, and who I am. You know that potential, or that special “thing” people sometimes say you have? I got to see it for the first time in myself last night. I could go on and on about how much my artistry means to me, but it probably still won’t paint an accurate pictureof just how passionate I am about this. Last night, I felt like I was right where I belonged.. And that shit felt AMAZING! That’s a moment I’ll have forever. It transcended expectation and was a musical and emotional moment that all y’all got to experience with me.

So to make a long short.. I fuckin love y’all! Every tweet, every pic, every comment, every like– I see it all and I APPRECIATE THEM ALL! In an industry that tries to make me feel like I have no place, y’all continue to build me up and remind me why I do what I do and push so hard for the next level. We in this thang together man!
